Start the map editor, import the model in your map editor.

Dental materials used for fixation of orthodontic appliances (brackets, wires and bands) can cause allergic reactions in patients. The objective of this study was to analyse the effect of different metal cations (Na, K, Ca, Ni, Mn, Cr, Ti, Zn) on the shelf-life of polyvinylchloride (PVC) brackets. PVC brackets (Dantec) were immersed for 1 h in solutions containing each metal cation at 4 different concentrations (20, 50, 100, 500 mmol L(-1)). The effects of different metal cations on the length of bracket longevity were evaluated using one-way analysis of variance. The shelf-life of the brackets was reduced as the concentration of each metal cation increased. The percentage of active corrosion decreased in the following order: Ti > Ca > Ni > Zn > Mn > K > Na > Cr. This study suggests that metal cations in brackets can alter the shelf-life of brackets and suggest that metal cations such as Ti, Ca and Ni may play a role in allergic reactions associated with the use of orthodontic appliances.Does the rate of clinical decline vary with age?
